How do I get the course materials?

How do I get the course materials?

SMART! courses are homestudy courses. You will be able to choose whether you want to receive your course materials electronically by downloading a PDF document or whether you want them to be sent to you by mail as a paper booklet.

Other places charge much more for this type of course. Is there a difference?

Our courses are the highest quality, but we keep our fees very low because we know that teachers often make very little while having many training requirements to meet. We are committed to providing our students with the training they need at a great value.

Can these courses count towards my credential renewal and annual in-service training requirements?

Our courses have been designed to be accepted by licensing and by child care credential renewal agencies, but each state or agency may have different standards. Students should consult with agencies about their particular requirements before enrolling in any program. Your course certificate will award you with both in-service training hours and CEU credits.

No, our courses are specifically designed to serve as in-service or professional continuing education courses.

Will I have to go somewhere to take a test or do anything else?

No. You simply will take a short quiz that is in your course materials and send it to us along with proof of payment. When you pass the quiz, we will mail or e-mail you the certification of completion and CEU award.

How do I take the courses?

You will work at your own pace. Each topic is broken down into "articles" that are easy to read when you have time. You can study the entire course at one time, or you can study it in as many sessions as you like.

Is your information current?

All of our courses are developed by education professionals with at least a Master's in Child Development or related field as well as field experience. Our curriculum director ensures that each course is based on contemporary research and best practices from the fields of child development and early childhood education.

What are CEUs?

Continuing Education Units are required for some credential renewal and in-service training requirements. Our courses will provide you with 1 CEU for every 10 hours of training in a course.

How will I get my certificate?

When you send us your quiz, there will be a place on the form to request mail delivery or e-mail delivery of your certificate.

What if I lose my certificate?

We retain proof of your in-service hours and CEUs so that your course completion can be verified or so that you can obtain another copy. Most students also file copies in your center's personnel file, keep a copy, and send a copy to their credential renewal agency. If you need a replacement from us, please send us information about the student and a $5.00 reprinting fee.

Are there group discounts available?

Yes, contact us if you would like to learn more about group plans or discounts for child care centers, associations or other groups.

What if I fail the quiz?

You may use your course materials to help you answer the quiz questions. If you do not pass the first time, you can take it again as many times as you need with no additional charge.
